Toni Martí began his political career in 1994 and was one of the founders of the Partit Liberal d'Andorra (PLA). He was general councilor (parliamentary) from 1994 to 1997 and also from 1997 to 2001, the year in which he was again elected general councilor, but in 2003 he left the position to run for the communal (local) elections of Escaldes-Engordany, and was elected consul.
