The forest fire in Matarraña that spread to Horta de Sant Joan has been stabilized

The forest fire that began burning 300 meters from the Algars river in Arens de Lledó (Teruel) this Tuesday afternoon has spread to enter Catalonia and since 7:00 p.m. it affects Horta de Sant Joan (Tarragona) which It has burned about 60 hectares, many of them cultivated, as reported by Agents Rurals.

“There is no longer a flame” on the Aragonese flank, only “smoke and embers” and in Catalan territory the fire “is stabilized,” Bombers said in a note tonight. Together with the Aragón teams, they plan to work on its extinction during the night with ground resources surrounding the perimeter with water. They have withdrawn the air resources and will act with around twenty crews.

Late in the afternoon, concern grew among the extinguishing teams, since the wind blowing from the mistral fueled the “high intensity” fire and pushed it towards the east.

For your part. The Government of Aragon activated the Special Civil Protection Plan (PROCINFO) for emergencies in “Operational Situation 1” due to the forest fire.

The president of the Matarraña region, Fernando Camps, explained to El Heraldo de Aragón that the fire originated very close to homes, “several of which have had to be evacuated,” as well as farmhouses.

Up to 34 crews have participated in the extinction tasks, eight of which are MAER air crews among Bomber units, which deal with the right flank and tail of Lledó; and the Aragonese BRIF, which are in charge of the left flank, as reported by the Catalan emergency body.

Traffic has closed the TV-3341 road between Horta de Sant Joan and Caseres due to the forest fire.
