To warm up our engines before discovering if this year there will be a new best pizzeria in Europe or if the Barcelona-based Sartoria Panatieri will revalidate its title at the ceremony that 50 Top Pizza will hold this Monday in Madrid, several cities in Spain will host from tomorrow until next Saturday the first edition of the 'Pizza Week Spain Edition'.
It is a week full of events in which a total of 105 pizzerias will participate, as well as some of the best pizzaiolos on the international scene, great chefs, sommeliers and producers linked to quality pizza.
At Sartoria Panatieri (Provença, 330 and l'Encarnació, 51), for example, they will celebrate the great recipe of Italian gastronomy by offering a special pizza throughout the week for a good cause: raising funds for the NGO World Central Kitchen, of the chef José Andrés. And at Can Pizza (with several addresses in Barcelona and Madrid) they have another solidarity initiative on their hands: creating a universal pizza together with Open Arms and the Diagrama Foundation with the intention of donating the profits to both organizations. This pizza will be created next Tuesday at a live event and will be on the menu for a limited time.
La Balmesina (Balmes, 193) has also joined the pizza week with a special menu of pizzas that they have created together with Slow Food BCN. And in the Raval, Frankie Gallo Cha Cha (Marquès de Barberà, 15) will celebrate next Friday his Pizza Unlimited Party, a party where you can try the restaurant's complete menu over 5 hours that will be enlivened with music and DJs.
Furthermore, in Punta ('Enric Granados, 147) some dinners prepared by four hands together with great pizzaiolos and chefs have been organized to celebrate the union between Naples and Barcelona.
