The Generalitat Firefighters are working this Sunday morning at two "strategic" and difficult-to-access points of the already stabilized forest fire in Portbou (Girona), through which the fire could escape.

The sub-inspector of Fire Department of the Generalitat Miquel València has told journalists that the weather forecast indicates that there will be north wind until mid-afternoon, so they are "prudent" even if the fire is stabilized.

Firefighters anticipate that the planes will not be able to operate this Sunday either due to the intensity of the wind in the area, and at the moment there are 19 ground crews working on their extinction.

València recalled that the lockdowns have already been lifted and that vehicle circulation on the N-260 has resumed -- only a secondary road that connects Portbou and Colera is still cut off.

The night has been quite calm with "small restarts that have been quickly attacked by the forces in extinction". At dawn, gusts of wind of up to 70 kilometers per hour have been recorded and, according to the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (SMC), the north wind is expected to strengthen between noon and afternoon in the area, Bombers reports in a statement.

For now, the fire has burned 573 hectares and 19 terrestrial crews are expected to work throughout the day, of which 14 are water.

Train traffic between Llançà and Portbou has been re-established this Sunday after being cut late this Saturday to fight the forest fire in the area.

In this way, the trains of lines R11 (Barcelona-Portbou) and RG1 (L'Hospitalet de Llobregat-Figueres/Portbou) are again circulating through all the stops, informs Civil Protection of the Generalitat in a tweet.

The cut was made at the request of the Generalitat Fire Department "to work in small secondary sources" during the night.
