The dialogues of the gray heron in the Ter

For La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos I have photographed the gray herons in their natural habitat in Les Masies de Voltregà, in Osona, where we can observe them while they come and go and communicate with each other.

There is a viewpoint in Les Masies de Voltregà from which they are not disturbed while watching them go about their daily work, since the nests are located on the other side of the river and in the municipality of Torelló.

Gray herons breed in colonies, usually in tall trees near water. In this area, specifically, they take advantage of the Ter River.

Like every year, a few weeks ago the gray herons arrived to settle on the banks of the Ter, where they are mating and building or rebuilding their nests.

If we look closely at the images in the video we will even seem to hear them talking to each other, each one looking for their space in the colony.
