Yesterday, Wednesday, October 18, the 23rd season of the legendary series Cuéntame como paso premiered on Spanish Television's La 1, which will put an end to the adventures of the Alcántara family on the small screen.
This fiction starring Imanol Arias, Ana Duato, María Galiana or Pablo Rivero holds the title of TVE's longest-running series in prime time, since it premiered in 2001. This new batch of chapters can be enjoyed on Wednesdays on public channel, something that has greatly surprised its fans, since it used to be broadcast on Thursdays.
In this last season, the creators of the series wanted to dedicate a chapter to each main character in the fiction. On this occasion, the series covers the period of time from 1994 to 2001 and will touch on topics such as the attack on the Twin Towers, the Internet revolution or the departure of Felipe González from Moncloa.
In the first episode, set in 2001, the fiction focused on Merche (Ana Duato), one of the characters most loved by fans. However, the real protagonist was Herminia (character played by Galiana), since the viewers' worst nightmares came true and Cuéntame showed the moment of her death and her corresponding funeral.
The chapter dedicated to Miguel Bernardeau's mother began with the tearful burial of the family's grandmother and cleared up doubts about Herminia's true age, since on the tomb it was possible to read that she died at the age of 102: ''Herminia López. 1899 - 2001''.
As shown in the series, everyone was very affected by the death of the old woman, especially her daughter. Furthermore, Carlos and Karina returned for this sad family moment. At the end of the funeral, the main couple surprised the audience with a reflection that opened the door to telling everything that had happened in recent years and that left the viewer wanting more. ''What has happened to us Antonio?'' Merche explained after experiencing an uncomfortable situation with her children.
