In this series of photographs in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia of sunrise in Calaf we can see the fantastic sunrise between clouds.
In this area of Catalonia, in the region of Anoia, the landscape of the plateau, which forms part of the Central Depression, predominates. In one of the snapshots we can see some fog.
It is an extensive calcareous platform, of about 700 meters of average altitude, which marks the boundary between the waters that flow into the Segre (via the Riubregós and the Sió) and those of the Llobregat (via the Rajadell and Anoia streams).
There are several sunrise observation points; to the north, the hills of Castell (685 m), Sant Sebastià (765 m) and Ferrera (759 m) in contrast with the plains of cultivated fields, where watching the day rise is also a pleasure for the eyes.
The differences between the landscape are, at the same time, its richness. In this sense, the most rugged and desert part of Calaf is the one that extends to the west, above Sant Martí Sesgueioles and Guàrdia Pilosa.
In the images we can see the sky colored by the candilazo, a meteorological phenomenon in which the clouds in the sky show a wide palette of colors that goes from pink to the most intense orange.
As part of the scattering phenomenon of sunlight, in the early hours of the morning, when the sun is closest to the horizon, the light that reaches Earth is in soft shades between red and orange. In a certain way, when this light passes through the clouds, it illuminates them and it could be said that it colors them with those hues.
