Buying a new car is becoming more and more complicated, not only because of the financial outlay involved in purchasing it, with price increases of more than 30% in most brands in recent months, according to the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU). ), but also because of the wide range of engines that the market offers. In recent times, other models powered by alternative fuels have been added to traditional combustion engine cars, both gasoline and diesel.

Vehicles equipped with a combustion engine that uses liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) represent another option when exploring dealerships in search of a new model. The same thing happens with hybrids and pure electric vehicles, which are increasingly relevant in the market, especially the former, which combine two types of engines: an internal combustion engine, generally gasoline, and an electric motor.

It must be taken into account that models that incorporate a second fuel tank, such as hybrids and LPG, enjoy the Eco label category of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT). Meanwhile, 100% electric vehicles are worthy of the Zero Emissions sticker, which confers all of them important additional benefits such as access to restricted areas and tax incentives.

Unrestricted access to Low Emission Zones (ZBE) becomes a fundamental factor when evaluating the purchase decision of a new car. The possibility of traveling by car through the center of cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants has become an essential aspect for many drivers. In this context, selecting a vehicle that meets environmental requirements is a priority when seeking to guarantee smooth urban mobility.

The OCU publishes on its website the list of the cheapest cars according to their engine and bodywork, grouped under the labels C, Eco and Zero emissions. With this guide, users can access updated information that makes it easier for them to search for affordable options that meet their specific needs, dividing cars into eight types of categories: citizen, utility, compact, saloon, minivan, small SUV, compact SUV and large SUV.

The OCU suggests taking into account various prior considerations before purchasing a car. Firstly, he recommends visiting several dealerships and requesting detailed written quotes, breaking down every important aspect, such as equipment, engine, delivery and registration costs, along with the length of time the quote is valid.

The consumer organization also advises carefully studying whether you need additional equipment, as it is usually expensive, and adapting as much as possible to the color or finish of the car, especially in models available in stock.
