The Catalan PP refuses to negotiate with Junts

The president of the PP of Catalonia, Alejandro Fernández, showed this Friday his refusal to negotiate with the formation of Junts per Catalunya any type of agreement that facilitates the investiture. "Whoever stands outside the Constitution is Junts and Puigdemont, he is a fugitive from Justice, and consequently he is outside of any type of negotiation," he assured the press.

A similar line was held by Carmen Fúnez, deputy secretary of Social Policies of the popular. Asked about a possible negotiation with Junts, she stressed that “it is an issue that is not on the table right now. What we are very clear about is that (Alberto Núñez) Feijóo is a president of principles, he is not Pedro Sánchez, and he will never disappoint either the constitutional principles or his constituents.

The words of both come to partly contradict what was said yesterday by the popular general coordinator, Elías Bendodo, who claimed that "you have to talk to all" the parties, although that does not mean "swallow everything."

Today's statements took place in the moments prior to the inauguration of the popular Jorge Azcón as the new president of Aragon, who yesterday won the investiture vote in Parliament by an absolute majority with the fundamental support of Vox and, to a lesser extent, of the only deputy of the Aragonese Party.

Before some 300 guests, including his counterpart from the Valencian Community, Carlos Mazón, the popular defended in his inauguration speech the importance of Aragon as part of Spain, for which he called to defend "firmly" the Statute of Autonomy and the Constitution against the political projects that use this community as a "target" to "try to crack the common project" forged in 1978.

After being sworn in in the courtyard of Santa Isabel in the Aljafería Palace, the seat of the Aragonese Parliament, the former mayor of Zaragoza promised to display "an ambitious look" with which to launch large projects that guarantee the Aragonese "more opportunities”, a task in which he will commit all his “effort, capacity and work”.

In his speech, he also claimed that access to the Government must be the "verification and ultimate reflection of the desire of the citizens", although some "today seek to corrupt it", a veiled allusion to the claims of the socialist Pedro Sánchez to add an alternative majority in the Congress of Deputies after the general elections of 23-J.

In this line, he wanted to show his loyalty and firmness to the nation with the participation of the Aragonese to prevent projects that seek to "dismember" Spain from prospering. "The will of the citizens cannot be conditioned by minorities who seek to undo a coexistence that has filled us with prosperity in the best stage of our history," he argued at the central moment of his speech.

For his part, Mazón was "very happy" with the change that is being implemented in Aragon and that, as in the Valencian Community, allows them to move forward and be able to say "important things such as that the children will not have to pay for the death of their parents”, he said in reference to the announcements of the suppression of the Inheritance tax in both communities.

The act did not have any prominent figure from the central management of Vox. The ultra party signed a government agreement with Azcón last week that guarantees a vice-presidency and two councils, whose official ownership will be announced tomorrow with the announcement of the new regional Executive.
