The best trick to open canning jars effortlessly

One of the most common problems when cooking occurs when we want to open a canning jar and the lid seems to be fused to the glass. No matter how much force we apply, the boat simply does not budge. In these cases we can resort to the classic strategy of hitting the edges of the lid in the hope that it will loosen a little; but doing this can be counterproductive and even dangerous, since we run the risk of hitting the bottle and breaking it if it is made of glass.

Canning jars are a practical and quick alternative in the kitchen to prepare different recipes. However, if we can't open it it can be quite frustrating. To avoid this annoying situation, just apply a few tricks and break the vacuum seal inside the jar to remove the lid without having to use excessive force.

Hit the canning jar, up or down? The best strategy if we want to open it easily is to tap it a couple of times on the base with the palm of our hand, as this will make the contents of the preserve move a little inside the jar, until we hear a small "pop" sound. which will indicate that the vacuum seal has been broken. Since there is less pressure in the jar, the lid should come off more easily.

Another trick that doesn't require hitting the jar is to loosen the lid with hot water. All you have to do is leave the preserve under the tap for a few seconds so that the lid expands a little so that it can be opened without problems. However, this trick only works with metal lids, as plastic lids could melt upon contact with heat.

1. To easily open a mason jar, simply tap one of the corners of the lid against a hard surface. This way you will get it deformed and lose its vacuum.

2. Try opening it again and experience how easy it is to unscrew after this step.

For this reason it is important to try not to knock the canning jars when we make the purchase. Once the vacuum is lost, the food inside is no longer preserved the same and must be consumed or stored in the refrigerator.
