If you want to learn geology in Vallcebre you must go, as I have done to prepare this photographic report for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

We are located in the Berguedà region, in a mountainous area covered with pine and oak forests. Although there is a small urban nucleus, most of the population is spread out in farmhouses.

Los Cingles de Vallcebre, a spectacular natural wall, surrounds and protects the valley of the town and serves as a sample to observe many geological phenomena. Various very didactic panels teach us interesting geology lessons in situ, as can be seen in the photographs.

Vallcebre is located within a volcanic zone of the Empordà-Selva-Garrotxa axis, which covers about 500 km² and consists of about 100 emission points, of which 30 are located around the municipality of Olot.

In Vallcebre, it is possible to find traces of mining with about twenty coal entrances. In fact, located where the old Tumi coal mine was, there is a lake that was formed after the open pit exploitation of coal.

In addition, the Fumanya Paleontological Site is located in the area, an old open-air coal mine where an impressive site has been discovered with thousands of footprints, bones and dinosaur eggs.

In Vallcebre, there are also several historic churches and hermitages with small Romanesque gems. The natural environment and landscape of Vallcebre is spectacular, ideal for hiking, canyoning or mountain biking.
