In the Pinar del Grao in Castellón there are many squirrels. Despite being great climbers, they have a habit of going down to the ground to look for food, such as nuts, acorns, berries and flowers. In this park they are quite a spectacle to see, as can be seen in these photographs in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos.

The Pinar park, with more than 121,000 m2 of surface and 2 km in length, is very popular, as it is the largest green area in Castellón.

It is estimated that there are almost 2,000 Aleppo pines and 500 stone pines, as well as mastic, olivilla and aladiernos. No wonder it's the squirrels' house.

The red squirrel is also known as the common squirrel, it is the most characteristic of all. It is a rodent that lives in the forests of Europe and part of Russia, but can also be seen in parks.

It usually lives in dark or shady areas of forests, especially in low mountain areas, much more than in high altitudes.

A common squirrel measures between 20 and 30 centimeters, has a tail that reaches 25 centimeters and does not exceed half a kilogram in weight.
