The Andorra Heliport, Project of National Interest

The Andorra National Heliport, projected in the La Caubella de Pal area, has been declared a Project of National Interest (PIN) by the Andorran Executive, at the proposal of the Minister of Territory and Housing, Víctor Filloy.

As established by the General Law on Territorial Planning and Urban Planning, projects of national interest are all those intended for the construction of road and communication infrastructures; to the execution of the hydraulic, sanitation and energy policy; the fight against pollution and the protection of nature, and the provision of health, care, research and development, innovation, educational, cultural, administrative, security and civil protection services.

The PIN declaration comes after the issuance of the binding report by the community of La Massana, the parish where the heliport will be located, on the construction of this infrastructure. In the text, they consider that the heliport "could have a significant impact on various aspects such as accessibility, security, trade and tourism." Likewise, it is considered that the location in La Caubella "is a flat and accessible area" and is considered "as a strategic alternative within Andorran territory".

The concession contract for the National Heliport was recently signed with the UTE Heliand Helinord. The construction works of this key infrastructure for Andorra could begin during this first semester.
