The ANC will not present a candidacy for the 12-M elections

The Catalan National Assembly (ANC) will not stand in the next elections to the Parliament, which will be held on May 12. In a conclave of the entity that was held this Saturday in Taradell, the result of the internal consultation with the members was revealed and the "no" to present a "civic list" was imposed by 98 votes.

In the internal consultation, 7,599 people voted and 49.45% of the members (3,758) were against promoting an electoral candidacy - Llista Cívica per la Independència - while 48.16% (3,660 people) voted. in favor. Another 181 members voted blank and represent 2.38%.

The voting process ended last Thursday at midnight, with the electoral advance already announced. This matter has provoked an intense and tense debate in the pro-independence entity, which has suffered casualties and has had a lot of division.

The intention of a sector of the organization was to attend the next regional elections as a group of voters, without politicians, to declare independence immediately. However, the calendar did not work in favor of the interests of those in favor of going to the elections, since to be a group of voters it is necessary to collect 50,000 votes first.

The one who will present herself is the ex-councillor and still MEP of Together for Catalonia Clara Ponsatí, together with the philosopher Jordi Grapera. They have registered the Alhora party and intend to enter Parliament in the next legislature.

In any case, Ponsatí and Graupera, who also have on their team the writer Anna Punsoda and the economist Ada Ferrer, former treasurer of the ANC, want to participate as a party, so they only need to collect the endorsement of 1% of the census in each constituency, a figure much lower than what the Assembly needed.
