The ANC calls the actions of the Mossos in an anti-monarchical march "violent and terrible"

The Catalan National Assembly (ANC) qualifies as "disproportionate, violent and terrible" the action of the Mossos d'Esquadra during the anti-monarchical demonstration on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 in Girona. In a statement, they state that the objective of the march was to place a banner of rejection in the building that houses the Fundació Princesa de Girona (FPdGi) to demonstrate "that the Bourbon monarchy is non grata" in the city.

In the demonstration there were clashes between demonstrators and Mossos, which prevented them from unlocking the stairs to hang the banner. The Mossos detained the spokesman for the anti-monarchy coordinator for attacking agents of the authority.

In the statement, the ANC criticizes that a "large group of Mossos" used "unjustified violence" against the protesters. They also denounce that some ARRO agents did not have their identification numbers visible. The ANC also points out that the protesters on the front line felt "perplexed" how the agents asked the commanders "to be able to use the violence of the batons to disperse the protesters."

The ANC expresses its support for the arrested spokesman, Quim Tell, who was released hours later: "Once reduced to the ground, he received a knee blow to the back by a policeman and sustained knee pressure on the neck by part of another."
