The Aemet warns that the storm Aline will leave rain, waves and wind in much of Spain

Starting this Thursday, Storm Aline will leave a strong storm across the entire peninsula with wind gusts close to 100 kilometers per hour, heavy rain, strong waves and the first snow of autumn in the northern mountains, according to the Agency's forecast. State of Meteorology (Aemet).

According to the forecast, a predominance of overcast skies with practically widespread abundant rainfall is expected, occasionally accompanied by storms, which will move from west to east. They can be locally strong in large areas of the southern half, northwest and Pyrenees, especially south and west of Galicia, west of the Central system and Pyrenees. They will be less abundant in the Cantabrian Sea and in the extreme east of the peninsula.

Temperatures will (finally) drop across the board and sharply, after weeks of anomalous records for the time of year, in many cases close to or exceeding a maximum of 30 degrees. The only exceptions to this drop will be found in the Canary Islands and the Strait, where the maximum temperatures will increase.

Aline will leave very strong gusts of wind. Intense winds from the west and south will predominate in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, moving northwest on the Atlantic coasts. Considerable gusts are expected in almost all areas, especially in much of the southern half, the northern mountains, the Galician coast and the Mediterranean area.

The Aemet has activated the notices for this reason in more than a dozen communities. In Andalusia, Murcia, the Balearic Islands and Castilla - La Mancha they will be on orange alert for wind gusts of up to 90 km/h. Same warning for coastal phenomena in Galicia and the Valencian Community.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Aemet expects the showers to continue in Galicia, the Cantabrian Sea, Northern Catalonia, and the Balearic Islands. In the rest of the country, the skies will be more open, although with still strong winds in parts of the north and east. In addition, for that day a significant drop in temperatures is expected, which will leave an atmosphere "somewhat cool for the season."

For Sunday, cloud cover will continue in most of the territory and the arrival of a new front is expected, which could leave scattered rainfall in Galicia and other parts of the western third. Thermometers will recover somewhat, although maximum temperatures will not reach 20 degrees in most of the country.
