The heat is tightening again in some areas of our country. A dozen provinces will be at risk due to heat this Monday, with temperatures that could reach up to 42 degrees in the interior southeast and the Valencian coast, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The agency also warns that the minimum will not drop below 24-26 degrees in the Mediterranean area.
In its forecast for today, the Aemet speaks of "significantly high temperatures in areas of the east and southeast of the peninsula and in the Balearic Islands". Nor does it rule out locally strong showers in the eastern Pyrenees.
Specifically, Alicante and Valencia will be at significant risk (orange) due to the high temperatures, which will also put Almería, Málaga, Murcia, Albacete, Barcelona, Tarragona, Lleida, Murcia and the Balearic Islands on alert, but yellow.
In Alicante and Valencia, a maximum temperature of 39 degrees is expected, although occasionally it may exceed 40 degrees. In Ibiza and Formentera, the agency provides up to 36 maximum. In Mallorca, up to 38 degrees.
In the rest of the country, little cloudy skies or with high clouds will predominate, without precipitation. However, in the north of Galicia and the Cantabrian area, cloudy skies with probable rainfall are expected, weak in general, tending to subside on the coasts in the afternoon, without ruling them out in the south of Galicia and northwest of Castilla y León.
In the Balearic Islands, the eastern half of the peninsula and the west of Andalusia and the southern plateau, there will be intervals of medium and high clouds, tending to be slightly cloudy from west to east.
In addition, for this Monday, in the northern half and eastern third of the peninsula, cloudiness of diurnal evolution will develop, with probable dry storms in the eastern third and the Balearic Islands, accompanied by showers in the Pyrenees and the ends of the Iberian. The Aemet does not rule out that these showers are locally strong in the eastern Pyrenees.
For Tuesday, the state agency expects a general drop in temperatures, both maximum and minimum, which will be even more noticeable in the interior northeast and areas of the eastern Mediterranean area, except in the Canary Islands and the extreme west, where they could rise somewhat.
