The Aemet announces a weekend of heavy rains and high temperatures in Spain

The weekend presents meteorological contrasts in several Spanish regions, with heavy rains and high temperatures that will mark the national panorama. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued cautionary notices due to the significant accumulation of precipitation that is expected.

Specifically in Galicia, the situation is of particular attention due to the predicted accumulations of rain that are expected during Saturday. The Aemet has warned about this increase, which will moderate as the day goes by.

This rainfall pattern will not only be limited to Galicia, but will also cover the Atlantic and Mediterranean slopes, excluding the southwest, and will extend to the Canary and Balearic Islands, affecting approximately half of the national territory.

This increase in rainfall activity coincides with a period of heat in much of the national territory, where temperatures will once again reach close to 30 degrees. In this sense, a considerable increase is expected in the eastern third of the country, where maximum temperatures could be between 5 and 10 degrees above normal. Throughout Saturday and Sunday, thermometers are expected to exceed 30-32 degrees in inland areas of the Valencian Community, the Region of Murcia and Andalusia.

The situation is expected to change for next week, which is expected to be "dry", with the exception of Monday in the northwest of the peninsula, where heavy showers are expected. This contrast represents a temporary window of relief after a possibly complicated weekend in meteorological terms. The Aemet assures that temperatures will remain “typical for the season”, without risk of imminent frost.
