Tension in the Metropolitan: Hermoso jumps into the stands and faces the Atlético ultras

It was only the second day of the League, but the tension overflowed in the Metropolitan. Atlético de Madrid's defeat at its stadium against Villarreal (0-2) led after the final whistle to an unpleasant confrontation between part of the stands and Mario Hermoso, who even jumped over the fence to confront some fans.

The center-back, who did not play a minute against those from Castellón, sitting on the bench, went to the goal where the members of the Frente Atlético group of ultras are located to defend his teammate Antoine Griezmann, who was being insulted. Hermoso talked with the public from the lawn until the words of one of those present made him jump.

Out of his mind, the Madrid defender exceeded the limits of the field of play while Kondogbia and teacher Ortega, among others, tried to stop him without success. Hermoso, already in the audience, he had a tense dialogue with some fans for a few seconds that did not go any further. Finally, the player returned to the grass and retired to the locker room.

The scene, recorded by several fans, was preceded by the nerves that ruled the last minutes of the match, especially as a result of Gerard Moreno's goal in the 96th minute that sentenced Villarreal to victory. The Catalan striker celebrated the goal by addressing a television camera while touching his face, a customary gesture dedicated to his daughters.

However, Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak misinterpreted Moreno's celebration and criticized him for provoking the stands, which led to a brawl between the players and in turn inflamed the stands even more. Even when he was addressing the media after the game, Moreno was reprimanded by the public.

The Villarreal striker later published a message on his Instagram account to clarify the situation: "No explanation is needed, but it was not my intention to offend anyone when celebrating the goal, I went to get the camera to dedicate it to my daughters as I always do ".
