Telecinco recovers "the box contest" with Jesús Vázquez

“The box contest” returns after twelve years of absence from the small screen. Telecinco recovers this iconic program starting next Sunday at 10 p.m., again with Jesús Vázquez at the helm. “One day he called one of my bosses and asked me which of all the formats I've done at Mediaset I would do again tomorrow with my eyes closed and I answered, there you are! . And then he told me "well, you've got it right because we're going to do it", revealed the popular presenter during the presentation of this new stage of the contest yesterday in the Sant Just Desvern studio where the program produced by Mediaset in collaboration with Gestmusic is recorded ( Banijay Iberia).

There you! It returns with a renewed decoration and novelties in its mechanics "that do not distort the game and that maintain the same spirit," said Eduardo Escorial, director of entertainment and news at Mediaset España. The manager recalled that this format has continued successfully in other countries and that Mediaset has decided to rescue it "to recover Jesús Vázquez in the format that has made him happiest, to return to work with Gestmusic and because to participate in it it is not necessary to be the smartest but it is simply a matter of intuition, chance and knowing how to manage the moments”.

Along the same lines, Tinet Rubira, general director of Gestmusic and executive producer of the format, said he believes that now “is a good time to recover ¡Allá tú! because in all the channels there are question and answer contests for people who know a lot and people who don't know so much can't find a place if they want to participate in a contest. Suddenly something as classic as ¡Allá tú! it is going to become something very different from what is taking place now as a contest trend”.

In each weekly delivery, Jesús Vázquez will put 500,000 euros at stake. On the set, 22 contestants meet and each one is given a box with a prize. The chosen one has to go choosing and opening the boxes of his companions to know the prizes or amounts of money that he will no longer be able to choose until he is left with only one box at the end, whose prize is the one he wins. Throughout the process and to give it more excitement, the presenter transmits to the contestants the offers made by 'The Banker' by phone, an enigmatic character who offers possible economic barter if they give up the contents of the boxes that have yet to be opened.

"He alone does half of the program and leads the contest in one direction or another," warned Jesús Vázquez about the fundamental role of "El banquero" in the contest. The presenter was also in charge of announcing the novelties of this stage such as 'The blue button for the extra offer', in which the contestant has the opportunity to dispose of 'The banker' and 'The lucky community', a alternative game so that the participant can qualify for a succulent amount of money if their chances of winning a good prize in the main game have vanished.

After being in charge of the contest on Telecinco between 2004 and 2008 and on Cuatro in 2011, Vázquez was excited to now recover this format and commented that he was always told on the street "I liked it when you did 'the thing with the boxes '. It is one of those programs that leave a mark”.
