Sunset in the paradise of El Palmar

I share in the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia this snapshot that shows the sunset in El Palmar, in the Valencian Albufera.

The image is a reflection of this natural paradise located on the shores of the L'Albufera Natural Park, surrounded by extensive rice crops and the orchard that makes up the pantry of the Valencian capital.

The boat in the image is significant, since El Palmar became a center of fishing activity since ancient times (its origins date back to the Muslim occupation in the year 711).

In this area, the traditional barracks also stand out, a typical type of construction with two-sloped thatched roofs, some of which are still preserved.

Now, there is another element that marks the landscape: the rice fields. Rice harvesting became important in the 19th century because it was more profitable than fishing. From there, it developed into the gastronomic brand it is today.
