Spectacular red sunrise in Barcelona

This Wednesday we have been able to enjoy a very reddish sunrise in Barcelona. Anyone who has not gotten up early to see it can see it in this series of photographs in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia, captured from the Fabra Observatory.

The Fabra is a privileged observation point of the city of Barcelona. It is located on a buttress of the Tibidabo mountain, facing south, 415 meters above sea level.

From this astronomical observatory you can not only study asteroids, comets and the stars that cross the sky, but you can also see all the meteorological phenomena that occur in Barcelona.

In this case, we can contemplate a beautiful candelabra over the Mediterranean Sea. As part of the phenomenon of scattering of sunlight, in the morning hours, when the sun is closest to the horizon, the light that reaches Earth is soft tones between red and orange.

In a certain way, when this light passes through the clouds, it illuminates them and it could be said that it colors them with those hues. The candilazo is also known as arrebol, which is the red color that is seen in the clouds illuminated by the sun's rays, especially at dawn.
