Colombian actress Sofía Vergara divorced her husband, fellow actor Joe Manganiello, after seven years of marriage, as confirmed to US media on Monday.
Vergara and Manganiello announced the news exclusively to the entertainment portal Page Six, noting that it was a "difficult decision to make."
"As two people who love and care very much for each other, we ask that our privacy be respected as we navigate this new phase of our lives," the two interpreters said in a statement.
The "Modern Family" star married Manganiello in 2015, who has acted in productions such as the series "True Blood" or the film "Magic Mike", in a ceremony in Palm Beach, Florida, after having maintained a loving relationship for just over a year.
It was the second marriage for Vergara, who married for the first time when she was 18, with fellow Colombian Joe Gonzalez, with whom she had her only son, Manolo.
