Snow combats drought in Montseny

I have captured this series of photographs for La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos in the morning in Santa Fe, with snow even in the swamp, which has risen a bit in level. There is a reason we begin to combat drought and the snow is a help.

The drought had also been visible in the Montseny reservoir, the Santa Fe reservoir, built in 1920 to generate electricity for a luxury hotel.

This reservoir owes its name to the stream on which it is built, that of Santa Fe, a tributary of the Tordera river, and belongs to the municipality of Fogàs de Monclús, in Vallès Oriental.

However, the reservoir drinks from various streams such as Passavets or Gualba, although this summer there is still not much water flowing through these streams in the absence of more rain.

The history of this reservoir dates back to the beginning of the 20th century when the Barcelona businessman and publisher Ramón Montaner bought the Santa Fe Valley.

His goal was to build a luxury hotel and, since there was no electricity, he ordered a dam to be built. Finally, the reservoir had to be built in 1935.
