Sánchez appoints Ximo Puig as president of the Senate budget committee

Pedro Sánchez has appointed Ximo Puig as president of the Senate Budget Commission, the only commission of the Upper House chaired by the socialists. The news, reported by Europa Press and confirmed by this newspaper, comes one day after Puig's two most trusted people in the Corts Valencianes, Arcadi España and Rebeca Torró, have been appointed as Secretaries of State for Territorial Policy and Industry, respectively.

Ximo Puig was elected senator by appointment of the Corts Valencianes after he lost the presidency of the Generalitat Valenciana after 28-M in favor of Carlos Mazón after the PP and Vox pact. His name was considered as a possible minister of Pedro Sánchez's new executive. Now, the leader of the Valencian socialists becomes a key member of the PSOE in the Senate.

Specifically, the Budget Commission usually meets exclusively when the public accounts arrive at the Upper House to host appearances by senior officials and subsequently debate vetoes and amendments.
