A 20-year-old woman was killed Wednesday night after being shot in the head while carrying a baby stroller on the Upper East Side in New York, United States.
The authorities have indicated that the mother was walking with her three-month-old baby in the stroller, when a hooded man dressed in black with a tracksuit and sweatshirt approached her from behind and shot her at close range in the head.
The Police have confirmed that the incident took place on Lexington Avenue and East 95th Street around 8:25 p.m. (local time), as reported by the ABC 7 network in New York.
The woman has been transferred to the Metropolitan Hospital in New York, where she died approximately an hour later, according to police sources. Meanwhile, the Police have reported that the baby has been unharmed, despite the fact that he has been transferred to the hospital for a check-up.
In this context, the mayor of New York, Eric Adams, has assured that the incident "shows a national problem that is affecting families" and has ruled that they will find the person guilty "of this horrible crime and the justice system will make sure that this innocent person receives justice.
