Samuel Theis, actor of 'Anatomy of a Fall', accused of rape

The French actor Samuel Theis, known for being one of the protagonists of the award-winning Anatomy of a Fall, was expelled last summer from the filming of the film he directed, Je te jure, after being accused of rape by a member of the crew. As has emerged today through various media and reported by Variety magazine, Theis remained as director of the film but had to finish it remotely.

According to the French Libération, the events took place in July after a party for the film's crew in an apartment. According to this accusation, the victim stayed to sleep in the apartment where the party was held due to her state of intoxication and the attack by Theis would have taken place early in the morning. For his part, the actor has alleged that the sexual relationship was consensual, according to Libération.

Shortly after the events, the victim decided to leave the filming, which set off alarms. Thus, the producer of Je te jure, Caroline Bonmarchand, opened an investigation to find out what happened that night. Likewise, and as a preventive measure, he decided that Theis would physically leave the filming set. What happened is that the French director was forced to be isolated in an adjoining room, so that the rest of the staff could come to him if necessary and he directed the details through monitors. With this system, filming could be completed that same summer.

The victim would have filed a complaint with the police, according to some media such as the French Telerama. However, Theis' lawyer, Marie Dosé, has told Variety that she is not aware of an official complaint and that she has not been informed of any ongoing investigation.
