Russia assured today that its missiles destroyed this Saturday a military infrastructure in the port of Odessa, key to Ukrainian grain exports on which an agreement had been reached the previous day under the auspices of Turkey and the UN.

"Kalibr missiles destroyed a target of the military infrastructure of the port of Odessa," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel, saying that "in the high-precision attack" a Ukrainian military boat.

For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that a US Harpoon anti-ship missile depot was destroyed along with the military vessel.

"Productive capacities for the repair and modernization of the ships of the Ukrainian Navy were also disabled," said the spokesman for that ministry, General Igor Konashénkov, in his daily press appearance.

The UN Secretary General, António Guterres, condemned "unequivocally" the Russian attacks against the Ukrainian port of Odessa, on the Black Sea, a day after Russia and Ukraine reached an agreement to export Ukrainian grain and alleviate the cereal shortages around the world.

The United States joined the condemnation and its Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, denounced that the attack on Odessa "raises serious doubts about Russia's commitment to the agreement."

"The Kremlin continues to show contempt for the safety of millions of civilians as it perpetuates its assault on Ukraine," Blinken said in a statement, stressing that Russia "deprives Ukraine of its economic vitality and the world of its food supply."

The European Union (EU) also condemned the Russian attack on Odessa through its high representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, who stressed that this action "once again demonstrates Russia's total disregard for international law and commitments."

"The Russian missile is a spit from (Russian President) Vladimir Putin in the face of the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, and the President of Turkey, Recep (Tayyip) Erdogan," said the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey. Ukraine, Oleg Nikolenko, condemning the attack on the port of Odessa.

In turn, the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, declared that the attack on Odessa "proves only one thing: no matter what Russia promises, it will always find a way not to fulfill it."
