Rungie, the 'start-up' that creates online communities

The five co-founders of Rungie met in March 2021 and in a matter of weeks they had created the company. It was a process as fast as the evolution of blockchain technology or block chains, on which they base their activity. Also the name of the company is a reflection of the speed of the market in which they move: it has its origin in Friedlieb Ferdinand Runge, the chemist who discovered caffeine, because "since the world of cryptocurrencies is crazy, we always say that what we need most is a coffee”, explains Marc Bigas, one of the co-founders.

This Barcelona start-up is dedicated to creating communities for what is known as web 3, a more decentralized version of the internet thanks to the blockchain. These communities are intended to "strengthen and tighten the relationship of artists, brands, franchises and content creators with their audience," says David Tomu, co-founder of the company. By focusing on web 3, these connections have the advantage of being without intermediaries.

Rungie's first project is Mito Gallery, an online ecosystem that brings the digital art of Hispanic artists to the general public. On the other hand, Bigas and Tomu advance that at the end of this year Rungie will have its own token (digital token), which aims to improve the usability and governance of all the start-up projects, giving users rewards and tools so that they form an active part of many of the initiatives that are carried out.

With the aim of accelerating the development and quality of its projects, Rungie closed its first round of investment last February, of 1.5 million euros. The main investor was the venture capital fund Kfund, which is specialized in technological projects based in Spain. This money is added to the 250,000 euros of initial investment contributed by the founding partners.
