The president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, insisted yesterday on the need to adopt an urgent "offensive action" to guarantee the viability of the tile industry in the face of the "critical" situation generated by the increase in gas costs, with immediate measures that allow action to prevent the closure of companies.

La Vanguardia explained in its edition yesterday that, between January and September of this year, 41 ERTEs were managed that have affected 5,416 employees; but that only this month of September we must add another 22 files and 1,817 affected employees. At this juncture, the Valencian president, visiting Brussels, stressed that he had conveyed to the executive vice president of the European Commission for the European Green Deal, Frans Timmermans, the need to achieve harmonization of direct aid to avoid distortion of competition that produces that countries with greater fiscal capacity can subsidize their companies more. “We ask for fairness and equal opportunities”, he has indicated.

The head of the Consell announced that next Tuesday he will meet with the Ceramics Board in Castellón de la Plana to address both the direct aid to the sector by the Consell and the central government and the global situation, and also to inform them about the steps taken in this institutional mission in Brussels.

Puig made these statements after the meeting held in Brussels with the head of the Unit for Relations with Member States in the European Commission's General Directorate for Energy, Yolanda García Mezquita, as well as with the economic chief attached to the same general directorate, Miguel Gil .

The meeting held this Tuesday in Brussels also made it possible to address how the Generalitat can coordinate with the European institutions to immediately help companies in serious difficulty, as well as to develop structural measures to speed up the implementation of renewables and to promote actions
