Prince Harry has returned to the United Kingdom but will not be reunited with his father

Prince Henry is already in London. The youngest of King Charles III's sons finally returned to his native country after almost five months last Tuesday for a very special reason: to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, a competition between military veterans and war wounded, which founded together with her beloved grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.

An event that will be commemorated with a special service on Wednesday, May 8, and that will give British citizens the opportunity to see the prince again on the streets of the capital. However, the visit of the Duke of Sussex will not serve to witness a family reunion, since he will not see his father during the few hours that he will remain in the United Kingdom.

As confirmed by a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex himself in a statement, King Charles III will not see his youngest son during his stay in London. The monarch, who resumed his official duties last week after being sidelined for three months due to his cancer, is too busy to meet his son.

“The duke, of course, understands his father's commitments and other priorities and looks forward to seeing him soon,” the spokesperson added.

The last time the Duke of Sussex was able to meet with his father was last February, just a few hours after the monarch publicly announced that he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer, which caused him to step away from his royal duties. and was going to undergo treatment.

Prince Harry will also not see his brother, Prince William. The heir to the throne will be out of the capital until the weekend, and his wife continues to undergo preventive chemotherapy treatment. He maintains an even more tense relationship with both of them since the minor withdrew from his royal duties in 2020 with his wife, Meghan Markle; and published his memoirs, In the Shadow, shortly after.

Even so, Prince Henry has a fairly tight schedule for the few hours he will remain on British soil. As soon as he landed in London, the youngest of Charles III's sons was photographed at the headquarters of the Honorable Artillery Company, near Clarence House, the official residence of his father and Queen Camilla, where he held a conference for the Invictus Games. .

On Wednesday, the Duke of Sussex will attend a special thanksgiving service marking the event's 10th anniversary at St Paul's Cathedral. As a special guest, actor Damian Lewis (Homeland), who will recite the poem Invictus for all attendees. At the moment it is unknown if any member of the royal family will accompany Prince Henry.

A lightning trip after which the Duke of Sussex will reunite with his wife, who on this occasion has not accompanied her husband for security reasons; to travel together to Nigeria. They will go there at the invitation of the chief of the Defense Staff of the African country, after the last celebration of the Invictus Games.
