President Biden declares two days for the case of the classified papers he took

There were some suspicious people who observed that Joe Biden's agenda was very empty this weekend and the beginning of this one. If it was for leisure, the tragic events in the Middle East have led him to hold continuous meetings with his national security team and make calls to world leaders. But that was not all and he also faced an internal matter.

The president of the United States gave a statement on Sunday and Monday regarding the investigation being carried out by special prosecutor Robert Hur after the discovery of classified documents in his possession that were inappropriately in private offices and in his home in Delaware.

This is how the government explained it on Monday night. The interrogation was carried out by Hur himself in person, according to sources cited by the media.

“The voluntary questioning took place at the White House over the course of these two days,” spokesman Ian Sams said in a statement. “As we have said from the beginning, the president and the White House are cooperating with the investigation and, when appropriate, we have provided relevant updates publicly, being transparent and consistent with protecting and preserving the integrity of the investigation,” accurate.

And the spokesperson added that “we will refer further questions to the Department of Justice at this time.” The Department did not comment on the matter.

This interrogation occurs months after Merrick Garland, US Attorney General, equivalent to the Minister of Justice, appointed Hur last January to supervise the case over Biden's handling of those documents, which he once monopolized. who stopped being vice president in January 2017.

The documents were discovered in the garage of the Delaware residence and in some offices in Washington that he used when he left the vice presidency of the country. Hur served as a federal prosecutor in Maryland during the Trump administration.

This interrogation process points to the possibility that Hur is approaching the end of the investigations. The case began because the president's lawyers reported that they had found several classified documents mixed with other papers in those offices in the federal capital. These rooms were used by Biden once he left the government and before starting his campaign for the November 2020 presidential election.

Other documents later turned up at his Delaware residence. The investigation arose as a counterpoint to that carried out by another special prosecutor, Jack Smith, when it was discovered that former President Donald Trump had taken boxes of documents, some classified as highly secret, to his Mar-a-Lago mansion and club, stored in any way and to which clients and members of the club could have access.

Trump refused to collaborate. A judge had to issue an entry and search order at his mansion to recover thousands of papers. The investigation led the prosecutor to charge him with a string of relevant charges in a Miami court. The trial is scheduled for next year.

On the other hand, Biden expressed surprise when he learned that he was improperly accumulating documents and his team maintained at all times that he has cooperated with the investigation. Unlike Trump, who continually took the opportunity to attack justice, the FBI and the president, his affair has developed quietly and discreetly.
