Pedro Sánchez praises Jorge Javier Vázquez and regrets the end of 'Save me'

The interview that Jordi Évole did last night with Pedro Sánchez in Lo de Évole on the occasion of the electoral campaign for the general elections on July 23 put on the table the relationship of the President of the Government with the media and with certain journalists.

In fact, the Catalan did not hesitate to put on the table one of the hottest television topics of recent times, the cancellation of Sálvame after 14 years on the air, and wanted to ask the socialist president for his opinion regarding Jorge Javier Vázquez. Sánchez responded without delay, praising the Mediaset presenter and making clear his discomfort because he is currently missing.

One of the issues that Jordi Évole wanted to discuss during his interview with Pedro Sánchez on La Sexta was the presence of the Prime Minister on certain channels and before certain journalists. In fact, the journalist made it clear that, in the last four years, Sánchez had not given a single interview to Ana Rosa Quintana, Vicente Vallés or Carlos.

"Do you think you have forgotten about the people who don't vote for you?" Évole wanted to know. “I have misjudged the corrosive force of many of these arguments that have been propagated in these media,” replied Sánchez, who tried to justify himself by alluding to this non-stop work due to a pandemic or the social and economic consequences of a war. However, Évole also reproached him that he had found a place for Ferreras or La Sexta.

Likewise, Évole also asked bluntly what the president's relationship with the Atresmedia group was like. "Good, professional and respectful," he replied. "Haven't you been pissed off with something that has been done?" Questioned the journalist. "I am not going to do like other presidents of other nations pointing to the media," he clarified. “And with Mediaset? Is your relationship with Mediaset or with Atresmedia better?", pointed out Évole. "Okay, correct. There is no valuation in that ”, settled the socialist.

Then, the presenter put on the table "the most striking news on the television scene in the last year and even several years." In this case, he was referring to the fact that "at Mediaset they have replaced a program like Sálvame, presented by Jorge Javier Vázquez, and it will be replaced by a program by Ana Rosa Quintana". "What do you think?" Évole snapped.

"It seems to me that Jorge Javier Vázquez is a television monster," said the president, praising the Mediaset presenter. "And Ana Rosa Quintana?" Évole replied. “It is too. But, I insist, you are asking me about Jorge Javier Vázquez”, clarified Sánchez. "I ask him with both," released the most incisive journalist.

To which the president made it clear that Jorge Javier and Ana Rosa “are two great professionals in the media. There are the audiences they have”. However, Sánchez wanted to emphasize regarding the Catalan presenter: "But it seems to me a mistake and a pity that Jorge Javier does not continue to be present on the screens."

Next, Jordi Évole brought up something that was a bombshell at the time: the call that Pedro Sánchez made live to Jorge Javier Vázquez to promise him an Animal Welfare Law, and which was promulgated in 2023. "Since then we have maintained a certain relationship," the president acknowledged.

In fact, when the news of the cancellation of Sálvame broke, Sánchez claimed to have had "a conversation with him", in which "I wished him good luck". "Don't they call Ana Rosa?" Évole asked. To which Sánchez replied that with her "I haven't had a conversation for a long time, but I hope to go to her program very soon."

To finish with the issue of the media and, mainly, with that of Jorge Javier Vázquez, Sánchez expressed a wish for the presenter. "I hope you find a space in which to do programs soon," he assured. And it is that for the socialist Jorge Javier “he is a progressive and committed person, with many progressive causes. In the end you get closer."
