A new edition of the Lluèrnia Festival has begun in Olot, capital of La Garrotxa. There are performances by renowned artists and light shows, as well as light and fire shows.

The tour proposes rediscovering places in Olot such as Eixample Malagrida. The first day was dedicated to the light installations and this Saturday the fire installations will also be lit.

More than 50 proposals have been submitted to the artistic call, with collaborations from schools and institutes and the Olot associative fabric.

In addition, you can enjoy La Fumarola, a whole series of pre- and post-activities such as conferences or exhibitions.

One of the spirit of the festival is to help the citizens of Olot rediscover new spaces and itineraries. It is for this reason that in this year's edition of Lluèrnia, after being held on the banks of the river Fluvià or the neighborhood of Sant Miquel, it will explore the possibilities of Eixample Malagrida, from Casa Vayreda to Parc Nou, passing by the Museum de los Santos or the Municipal Sports Pavilion.

Facilities are also offered in key points of the city such as the Plaza Mayor, the Hospice or the Residences. The image of Lluèrnia 2023 is the work of Manel Quintana.

As the organization explains in the presentation of the festival, it was born with "the desire to become an annual event that visualizes the relationship between the city of Olot and its surroundings, with the fire of the volcanoes and how this origin has been transforming, not only the orography and the landscape, but the very character and culture of the people of La Garrotxa". This year is the twelfth edition.

"Lluèrnia is part of the current trend of festive manifestations around fire and light, facilitated by the evolution of the technology of spectacular projections and illuminations," highlight the promoters of a festival along the lines of the Fête des Lumieres of Lyon. .
