Although in this area there is a lot of light pollution from the Plana de Vic, last night the Milky Way shone in the sky of Gurb, Osona region.
I captured the photograph for La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos near the local road where few vehicles pass and at the time of shooting the camera a car passing quite far away slightly illuminates the church of Sant Julià Sassorba, adding depth to the image.
Sant Julià Sassorba is the highest parish in the extensive municipality of Gurb. It is a Romanesque church that was consecrated in the year 1091. Of the original temple, a good part of the nave remains, elevated, adorned with Lombard arches, and the bell tower, renovated at the top.
In 1572 a new portal was built and, in the 18th century, the old apse and two apsidioles were removed in order to build a new presbytery. Furthermore, in 1993 the restoration of the bell tower was carried out.
