Nice background for a queen

Smiling and somewhat nervous, as she herself admitted upon arrival, Princess Leonor, from now on the Bourbon cadet, entered the General Military Academy of Zaragoza yesterday to begin her training within the Armed Forces and, as she has been in charge of emphasizing the acting Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, will do so under the same conditions as the rest of the cadets.

The fact that she does not have privileges does not mean that she is one more because she is not: Leonor de Borbón y Ortiz is the Princess of Asturias, the heir to the throne, and the time has come, about to turn 18, for the path she transit, and together with whoever does it, have public significance.

Her stay in Zaragoza, prior to next year which will take her to the Marín Naval School and, the following year, to the San Javier Air Academy, goes beyond providing her with knowledge about the operation of the three armies (Land , Navy and Air) and to begin to establish links with the Armed Forces, of which in the future, as queen, she will be Supreme Commander. Her passage through the different academies is essential for her to live with young people of diverse origins and from different social strata.

It is true that all of them have their military vocation in common, so they only represent a sector of Spanish youth, but they are also united by a willingness to serve and, above all, a sense of camaraderie, effort and sacrifice that, well directed and cultivated, it is not a bad wardrobe for a future queen.
