Naut Aran changes use of land in Baqueira to make apartments for seasonal workers

The Naut Aran City Council, in the Val d'Aran (Lleida), approved this Thursday in full to promote housing for seasonal workers.

The council has given approval to a modification of subsidiary regulations to change the use of a 1,800 square meter plot, located in Baqueira, to residential housing and build 60 apartments of 30 square meters that could benefit about 120 people.

The ownership of the land is the Naut Aran City Council. According to the council, a cooperative management or concession would be proposed between businessmen from Baqueira and Naut Aran to be able to carry out the project.

Within this space there would also be an area for the Pompièrs and Emergency group of 100 square meters and a warehouse for the municipal brigade.

The total budget would amount to 5 and a half million euros and a concession for about 75 years would be considered.

The mayor of Naut Aran, César Ruiz-Canela, has highlighted that given the difficulties of workers in finding rental housing, this measure is intended to try to put an end to this situation.

This point of the plenary session had the favorable votes of Convergencia Aranesa and Unidad de Aran and the vote against Aran Amassa.
