Nacho Fernández, Real Madrid defender, apologized this Saturday to Cristian Portugués, 'Portu', Girona footballer, for his entry in the match between both teams in the Spanish LaLiga EA Sports, wishing him a recovery "well and quickly" and expressed that in this match and "in all" his "career" he never had "the intention of harming anyone.
"I want to apologize to Portu for an involuntary action in the match. Today and in my entire career I never had the intention of harming anyone. I hope you can recover well and quickly," the player published on his 'Instagram' account.
Portu was taken off injured and on a stretcher for that action, for which Nacho was sent off with a direct red card, after the VAR review.
The Girona coach, Míchel Sánchez, stated after this Saturday's defeat against Real Madrid (0-3) and Nacho Fernández's harsh challenge on Portu, that "no challenge of this style on a playing field is understandable, but looking at the minute and the result is even worse."
"Ancelotti himself said that it was an inappropriate tackle and he asked us for forgiveness. Let's see what Portu has. Let's hope it's just the blows because his ankle and hip are badly hurt. We have to do tests," detailed the red and white coach.
For his part, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti apologized for Nacho's kick: "The mistake is that he lacked a little lucidity. We apologize. It could have been avoided.
