With more than 18,000 volunteers encouraging donations in supermarkets, the number that the organization had estimated as necessary, the Great Recapte began this Friday, the collection of food or financial contributions for the most needy, organized by the Banc dels Aliments foundation.
In Barcelona, the starting signal for the solidarity event took place in the Santa Caterina market with the Minister of Social Rights, Carles Campuzano, among other institutional representatives. But this Friday and this Saturday there are more than 2,100 collection points for essential goods spread throughout Catalonia.
When it comes to food, milk, oil, rice, pasta, legumes and canned fish and meat are mainly requested. Specific products for nursing children are also very necessary.
On the other hand, financial donations are also active through the checkouts of collaborating supermarkets, the Gran Recapte website and the Bizum application. In fact, in this modality you can collaborate until December 15.
