Alvaro Morata (30 years old) spoke this Tuesday at the presentation event of his Foundation's Charity Golf Tournament. In statements to the media, the Spanish forward was asked about the comments of the Barça player, Aitana Bonmatí, who assured that she did not expect more "support" from the players, and Morata did not hesitate to respond.
“If she says it, it's because she feels that way. The men's team helps the women's team a lot, it's not just the things that come out, they have been doing it for a long time. I am the captain and in charge of seeing all those things, they have been helping for many years and if they have anything to tell us or that we can help with, they know that we are available.” The player stated.
Despite his good start to the season, Morata is once again in the spotlight for his action against Norway, and commented on how he takes people's insults: “I haven't even seen it, to tell you the truth. I already said it, I can't control everything people say about me. I am very happy this year with how things are going, we have a great group, a great team also in the national team and that is what matters. The rest can affect me to a certain extent, but I can't please everyone.”
When asked if he would like to talk about Morata's selection, the Madrid footballer said no, that he prefers the selection of Gavi, Pedri or even the young Lamine: "No, man. Better about the selection of Gavi, of Pedri, of Lamine, of all the young people there are. Above all, it has to be the National Team of all Spaniards. When people are with us we notice it a lot and we are going to need them to be with us in the Euro Cup and in the following years. We come from a transition that has not been easy, we come behind the best players in the history of our country. It is complicated, but there are reasons to trust and players like them have a lot of future and are already the present the selection."
He also spoke about the controversy raised by some of his words in which he compared the arbitration treatment between Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid players.
