The new edition of the FIFA video game will not only change its name, but also its commentators. Electronic Arts has announced that the sportscasters Manolo Lama, Paco González and Antonio Ruiz will not announce the matches of EA Sports FC 24, the new incarnation of this popular franchise that this year will change brands after three decades carrying the initials of the sports federation in your title.
"After 25 unforgettable editions, we say goodbye to the iconic Manolo Lama, Paco González and Antonio Ruiz," states a message from the American publisher on social networks. “Your voices will always be synonymous with football and fun for us. We will make sure to continue his legacy in the best possible way.”
Paco González and Manolo Lama had been the voices of the Spanish edition of this simulator since FIFA 98: Rumbo al Mundial, one of the most remembered editions in the series due to the many novelties it introduced.
Coinciding with this announcement, the American publisher has revealed some numerical data on what its stories have meant in the last 25 years. In the case of Manolo Lama, 848 hours of recording, 278,448 lines of dialogue or the locution of the names of 7,400 players.
The big question that arises next is who will be the people responsible for taking over when commenting on the matches. Electronic Arts has not given any details about it, but one of the ideas that sounds strong in different media is that it could be content creators.
Without going any further, the streamer Ibai Llanos has been a commentator in some of the latest editions of the game, such as FIFA 20, in which he was in charge of narrating street soccer matches within the "Volta" game mode.
EA Sports FC 24 will go on sale on September 29 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC. Electronic Arts announced last week the release date of the game and the news that it will incorporate in this new edition.
