Luke Donald bets on Rahm to debut the Ryder Cup in Rome

The exciting and spectacular opening ceremony of the 2023 Ryder Cup has provided the first pairings of the week. Luke Donald, European captain, did not want any surprises and has decided to put his three best men on the field in the first session of the tournament, the foursomes (alternating shot), which will be played at dawn this Friday.

The Englishman has opted for Jon Rahm to inaugurate the Ryder at the Marco Simone. The Basque will play in the first match alongside the Englishman Tyrrell Hatton, a very solid couple, who will start from 1 to 7.35 in the morning.

That's why Barrika's guy won't have an easy time because Zach Johnson hasn't chosen to experiment either and his first couple, Rahm's rivals, are one of those who are scary. It is made up of Scottie Scheffler, world number one, and Sam Burns, not only the Texan's best friend but also the current match play world champion.

The second of the morning matches will pit Max Homa and Brian Harman (British champion) on the American side against Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg on the European side. In this case, Donald bets on a Nordic couple, with the Norwegian as another of his great strengths and the Swede, a rookie who attracts a lot of attention.

In the third foursomes duel, Zach Johnson has placed a fearsome couple of Californians, Rickie Fowler and Collin Morikawa. Shane Lowry and Sepp Straka, another of the rookies in a Ryder, will face them, leaving the prediction of the duel more than open.

The morning session, the first of this Ryder from Rome, will close with a high-flying duel. A main course that promises to delight fans. On the visiting side, their best couple, the almost unbeatable Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay. On the European side, Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood, a couple with a British flavor.
