The port of Barcelona is slowly taking shape to host the Copa América competition. Among the spectacular yachts that are moored at the port's Nou Pier, the Base of the American Magic Club has been built in a few days, a place with privileged views where the American patriotism of said club can be breathed but also, and since Thursday, a deep link with Catalan design. Lola Casademunt has been in charge of designing the formal uniforms of the New York Yacht Club American Magic team for this 37th edition of the championship, thus setting the course for its international expansion thanks to her foray into the world of sailing.

Before a small group of journalists, the Catalan firm led by designer Maite Casademunt presented this Thursday at the same American base the uniforms that will accompany the club in this competition. With four suits, two formal and two more casual, the brand becomes the official clothing supplier of the NYYC American Magic team for the Copa America and also the official sponsor of the American Magic women's team for the Puig Women's America's Cup.

"We wanted to make a more formal concept, with the navy blue jacket but with a fashion point in the buttonholes and the handkerchief, and another more casual one, with a technical fabric, with stretch and very comfortable inspired by the American clubs of the end of century," the designer detailed during the press conference. "When you put it on, like me today, you feel wonderful, comfortable and at the same time it flatters you," she highlights.

The creative director has explained that although the uniform as such will not be for sale, the original striped blazers that accompany it will reach the brand's windows, as well as a capsule collection that celebrates the occasion and is inspired in Barcelona.

This union between fashion and sailing is, according to the CEO of Lola Casademunt, Fernando Espona, an opportunity for the international expansion of the brand and its recognition worldwide. "This (American Magic) is a team of winners whose values, history and tradition are very similar to the values, tradition and history of our firm," said the businessman and added that both the firm and the sailing team are united by a passion and a similar heart.

Esponsa wanted to highlight the firm's link with the América Magic Team, a women's team that competes for the first time in this edition of the Copa América: "we are very sensitive to women's companies, by women and for women and on this occasion we like get closer to sport, also with the help of a women's team," he stated.

The event also included the intervention of Terry Hutchinson, President of Sailing Operations
