Letizia opens her summer in Palma

Letizia is in Palma, there is no doubt. Last night, as in the last two summers, the Queen kicked off her official vacation period with a movie appearance, presiding over the closing ceremony and awards ceremony of the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest. Queen Letizia, with her daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, arrived in Marivent on Saturday, where the King, who arrived last Wednesday, was waiting for them.

Like the King, the Queen began her stay on the island surrounded by authorities, which reinforces the official nature of the royal vacation. Last night, along with Letizia, were the Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta; the president of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, and the president of the Mallorca Council, Llorenç Galmés, as well as the director of the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest, Jaume Ripoll, a good friend of the Queen, a renowned cinephile.

As of today, private acts will alternate, although of a public nature, such as the participation of the King in the regattas of the Copa del Rey Mapfre, and the only official act scheduled: the presence of the King and Queen Sofía at the reception that will be offered on Thursday in the Marivent gardens to the authorities and the Balearic civil society. Unlike other years in which occasional appearances were guessed, in private activities such as dinners or visits to markets, as well as the usual family inn in some emblematic place on the island, this summer has not revealed what the repercussion will be, nor the duration of the presence of the Kings and their daughters in Majorca. Everything seems to indicate that the stay in Marivent will be short and the Kings and their daughters will leave the island in just over a week. The King, in addition to following the evolution of the political situation, after the elections on 23-J, will travel to Paraguay on the 14th to attend the inauguration of the new president and Princess Leo-nor will enter the Zaragoza military academy on August 17.

The King arrived in Marivent, where Queen Sofía and Princess Irene of Greece have been since July 20, last Wednesday night, two days before Letizia and her daughters did. Last Thursday, after receiving the new Balearic authorities, the King met with a group of friends aboard a recreational sailboat, while on Friday and Saturday he took the opportunity to train with the rest of the Aifos crew for his participation in the regattas that start this Monday. Yesterday, Sunday, the Aifos returned to sea, but the King did not come on board, from which it follows that he spent the day with the Queen and her daughters.
