'Jose Calderson', one of the three errors on the Kobe Bryant statue

A month ago, the Lakers unveiled the statue in honor of Kobe Bryant. The sculpture represents the image of the Black Mamba on the night where he scored 81 points, the second highest score in NBA history. In addition, the players who played that match or the minutes played by each one appear on the pedestal. However, in that area of the sculpture there are three spelling errors, one of them affects the Spanish José Calderón.

Among the grammatical errors of the bronze statue is that of José Calderón. On the pedestal, the name of the Badajoz point guard appears as 'Jose Calderson', which is why it contains two errors. The first is that they have omitted the accent in the name, although the most striking oversight is in the surname, where an 's' has been added.

In addition to the error in the Spanish name, there are two more errors in the statue. Von Wafer's name is engraved as 'Vom Wafer', while the pedestal also says 'Coach's Decicion' instead of Coach's Decision.

The Lakers have already announced that they will correct these errors soon. In addition, the spokesperson for the Los Angeles team has confirmed that two more statues will be made in honor of Kobe Bryant, one wearing the number 24 and the other next to his daughter Gianna, who also died in the accident.
