Joaquín Cortés, admitted urgently after losing consciousness while he was with his children

Joaquín Cortés gave his relatives and followers a scare after being admitted to the hospital urgently last weekend. The bailaor was playing with his two young children -Romeo, three years old, and Andrea, two- when he suffered dizziness that caused him to immediately lose consciousness. Quickly, he was taken to the hospital.

It has been Cortés himself who has communicated the dramatic event through his Instagram account and from his hospital bed, telling in detail what had led him to this situation, which not even his own environment knew about.

The choreographer has revealed that he had not been feeling too well for several weeks, something that he hid from his co-workers, with whom he is on tour for his new show, Esencia.

"Weeks ago I started to be quite ill, I had a chest cough, tiredness, headache... Even so, I was rehearsing tirelessly for weeks," confesses the choreographer, revealing that he made a great effort not to disappoint his audience at the Teatro Real de Madrid and the Barcelona Opera.

However, everything has a limit, and the day when Cortés's body said "enough" arrived. The worst, that he was with his young children when it happened.

"A few days ago, taking my son Romeo to school, I began to cough, and I was stunned while driving, I was scared but it passed...", he confesses, giving details of another event: "The other day I arrived in Madrid from the press conference from San Sebastián and when I returned home from the airport I started coughing again, but this time I had to ask Mónica [his wife] to take the wheel because suddenly I couldn't see anything".

A moment of anguish from which he managed to recover, but to which he should have given importance, as he now reflects.

"A few days ago I was playing with my children and I immediately fainted. I arrived at the emergency room with very low oxygen saturation in my blood," he explains, "Since then they have been doing cardiology, neurology, and pulmonology tests. I am on antibiotics and oxygen. Tomorrow they are going to do a bronchoscopy, and then they are going to put a holder on me for hours or days... I still don't know, until they find out what is happening to me... I thank every professional in every specialty who is investigating to find out the origin of syncopes," he concludes.

Of course, not before apologizing to all his followers in San Sebastián, where he had his next appointment with his show. Even so, he is optimistic: "I feel for all those but people who, like me, were so excited to be together tonight," he apologizes, "It only gives me hope to think that if I have danced this wildly with hardly any oxygen in my blood and with some infection in the lungs… How will I dance when I recover!"

The reactions to his publication were not long in coming, with a multitude of messages of support and encouragement from his followers, but also from his colleagues and friends such as Estrella Morente or the presenter Roberto Leal.

The bailaor continues to be hospitalized, waiting to find out the reason for these fainting spells, but he is confident that everything is fine and he will be able to dance again and be with his family very soon: "It only hurts me that I haven't seen my children for days. Everything is going to go well".
