Ignacio Bayón Mariné, who was Minister of Energy and Industry in the Executive of Adolfo Suárez from 1980 to 1982, died this Saturday at the age of 80, as reported by the Royal Academy of Gastronomy, of which he was a member.
Bayón, PhD in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, held other public positions as a lawyer for the Council of State and the Francoist Cortes, as well as Undersecretary of Housing in 1975.
Likewise, he had an extensive career in the business sector taking into account his career on the boards of companies such as Nestlé, Canal Plus, Repsol, Telefónica, FCC, National Institute of Industry (INI) and the Official Credit Institute (ICO).
Linked to this, it is worth mentioning that he exercised the presidency of Citroën, Renfe, the publishing house Espasa, Realia and the food group Omsa.
In 2015, Bayón assumed the presidency of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for Aid Against Drug Addiction (FAD), an institution that was precisely founded by a colleague of his in Suárez's cabinet, Manuel Gutiérrez Mellado.
