“I felt liberation”: Pablo Motos opens up live for the first time about his divorce

“It was horrible, I was sunk in grief,” Dulceida was so sincere this Tuesday in El Hormiguero when talking about how she handled her breakup with Alba Paul. Both women attended Pablo Motos' program and, as it could not be otherwise, they talked about their romantic relationship, an element on which both their documentary and the podcast Destino: Las Estrellas are based.

After the content creators opened their hearts and told what their experience was like, the presenter decided to speak publicly for the first time about the breakup with his wife. A confession that caught everyone off guard.

During the talk about his new podcast, whose first episode is titled Second Chances, Pablo Motos wanted to know how Dulceida and Alba faced their breakup and subsequent reconciliation. Dulceida pointed out: “For me, the number one feeling was sadness, failure too. We imagine a future and sometimes life takes you apart.”

Regarding the first days without being together, Dulceida was also honest with “It was horrible. I was immersed in grief, I had a professional project with my agency and I had to be with people all the time, and the only thing I wanted to do was lock myself up.” As for Alba: “My stomach closed and I couldn't eat. He forced me to eat a banana. “I lost six kilos in two weeks.”

However, the surprise came from Pablo Motos who, before the guests answered the question about his divorce, wanted to talk about his for the first time and how he felt at that time. “The first thing you feel when you separate is liberation,” the Valencian began, “as if a weight had been lifted off your shoulders. But you also feel quite guilty.”

“As you can see, you were the one who made the decision,” Dulceida said. To which Motos added: “And also a bit of failure.” Shortly after, the journalist spoke about the red lines that he maintains with his current partner Laura Llopis. “It is strictly prohibited to repeat what the other person has said in an idiotic voice. At least when we're arguing. On a day-to-day basis we do it quite a bit,” he explained.

Likewise, the presenter also gave more details about the moments of the breakup, such as skipping the diet. “I went from ice cream to chocolate and from chocolate to pizza.” Despite eating junk food, “grief makes you lose weight and it makes you worse, really. “It makes you look bad…” Motos added.
