In this series of images in La Vanguardia Readers' Photos we can see the evolution of the Sau reservoir, in the Osona region, between 2019 and 2023. They are all photographs captured in the month of September.

This September 2023 is when it is seen with less water (it is currently at 18% of its capacity), followed by 2022 (last year it was at 31%), then there is 2019 and then 2021, while 2020 was the year in which the reservoir could be seen fuller.

To give us an idea, if this year it is at 18% at this point in September, we must take into account that, on the other hand, the annual average for the last 5 years is 104%. And that of the last decade, 106%.

It is estimated that the Barcelona region will go into emergency at the end of November if it does not rain, although the next few days will once again be marked by rain and storms in most of the territory, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). ), but it remains to be seen to what extent it could benefit the wetlands.

The water reserves in the Ter and Llobregat reservoirs, which supply the region of Barcelona and Girona, are below a quarter of their maximum capacity. Specifically, they are at 23%, very close to the historical minimum of 2008 (20.5%).
