Historical panoramas of the castle of Lladurs

The castle of Lladurs enjoys a privileged position to observe a formidable panoramic view that even extends beyond the Solsonès region. And, at the same time, it welcomes history (and stories) within its dilapidated walls.

Located next to the church of Sant Martí, this old fortress has been reported since the year 1000, on the occasion of the sale of some vineyards belonging to the Count of Urgell.

When the Vizcounty of Cardona was erected in 1314, this is one of the castles that remained within the domain of the Folc family. Over the years, the vizcounty became a county and then a duchy, until the abolition of the seigneurial regime, already in the 19th century.

The castle ruins belong to different eras. Despite its current state, it has been declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest. From the Serrat del Castell, you can enjoy splendid views, as we can see in the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia.

Among his stories that have survived to this day, one tells us how the old chaplain of Lladurs, upon seeing the line of revolutionaries who, in the summer of 1936, came up to look for him at the start of the civil war, threw himself off the cliff, since he did not see himself with the strength to undertake a long flight trip, as other religious did to preserve his life.
